Hypomelanistic (Ghost)
This mutation was first produced & proven simple recessive in 1994. We acquired our first Hypomelanistic ball pythons into our collection in 1995. They were imported from Africa through Strictly Reptiles.
Hypomelanistic is the reduction of black pigment. When crossed into other mutations along with reducing the overall black pigment this gene also strips away the dark color on the dorsal pattern that appears as a ball pythons mature. It gives the appearance of a cleaner ball python.
There are a number of different color phases of Hypomelanistics. Here at Graziani Reptiles, we have proven several different Hypo mutations to be compatible and they are as follows: Blue Ghost, Green Ghost, Yellow/Butterscotch ghost and orange ghost. We also have two others that are not compatible, one of which we have proven simple recessive and are calling the Graziani Hypo.
