Velvet Jungle
We acquired our first Graziani Velvet Jungle ball python into our collection in 1996. She was imported from Africa through a small importer.
She was originally called “Velvet Pastel Jungle” and since she has proven not to be a Pastel that portion of the name has been dropped.
This animal is one of a kind. We have not seen another ball python that compares to her. She carries all of the characteristics of the Pastel Jungle ball python except the dark markings on her are velvet black. There is no brown or washed out blushing areas in the dark markings on her back. As a juvenile she was the color of a hatchling Albino ball python with black where the white should be. As an adult her dorsal pattern, has become darker like the other Pastel Jungles.
In 2003, she was bred to our original Pastel Jungle male. Although there was no Super Pastel Jungle produced in that breeding, there were a few Pastel Jungles that seemed to have a combination of both parents coloration. In 2005 we bred our Clown male to her and she gave us 11 eggs. All 11 babies looked normal, so now it is back to the drawing board. Hopefully, this is a reproducible simple recessive trait and not the same as the original unreproducible Jungles.
